Remember me
In a nutshell: seriously kickass robot movie, I loved it. Lots of annoyances though, some Transformer related, some not, and I've gotta rant.

** SPOILER ALERT **

I'm going to talk A LOT about what happens in the movie, so don't read this if you care to watch the movie.    more »

I just finished watching this HBO series on DVD. And all I can say is WOW. What a great great series. The "show" (I HATE using the word show for this series, it's sooo much more) is about "Easy Company". A US paratrooper unit of WWII. It takes you from basic training until the end of WWII. Everything you see is based on the actual men's accounts of what happened.

It compares with Saving Private Ryan in quality and story. (Makes sense produced by Spielberg and Hanks) The Action sequences are top notch, better than top notch, this should have been a three part movie, it's that good. What really hooked me in is that you really start to care for the unit. You feel for their loses, their hopes, their despair, their anger... during one battle, one the men gets injured, and is laying all but 6 feet from the unit, in pain unable to shout for help, his throat was shot. The men, could not get to him, the Germans used him as bait to lure someone to help him and take him out, all they could do was keep telling the man, that they were coming and to hold on... they never could get to him... you could feel the units morale just drop... not because he died. Because they failed him.

What strikes me the most, is what made me angry, not the Germans,  the bad leaders, nor the atrocities committed. But one simple thing, one of the commanders receives a letter as he enters Germany, nearing the end of the War, His wife has filed for divorce, and is taking the house, the kids AND HIS DOG!!! This man sacrifices everything, and this selfish w*#!e abandons him, and takes HIS DOG!!! Don't ask me why, it just did.

This series is graphic and not for the squeamish. Although very pricey $100appr, if you can borrow or rent it, it's a must watch.

I absolutely LOVED this movie.

From the outstanding opening sequence with the Operative right through to the emotionally charged ending, everything was perfect about this movie.

After watching the trailers I had feared the movie would turn into an over-the-top special effects vehicle, but the characters and banter remained the central element and the movie stayed true to Firefly.  Not much backstory was provided, which I think will limit its accessibility for the unintiated, but it was a true joy for the fans of Firefly.  I only have two complaints about this movie:
1) No more storylines for a sequel
2) Not enough screen time for Inara...

Hands-down the best movie I've seen this year.

5 out of 5.

To please Jim, I will be posting reviews of movies again.  I know it's been about a month, but I've seriously been busy.  Anyways, as soon as I get Jim to set some stuff up for me, the posting will begin!
