If you're a fan of British television there's an excellent comedy series that was just recently released on dvd called Spaced.  It's directed by Edgar Wright and stars Simon Pegg, Nick Frost (all of whom are from Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz) and Jessica Hynes.  It's about Tim (Wright) and Daisy (Hynes) who meet and decide to pose as a couple in order to move into a flat.  Hijinks ensue with Tim's best friend Mike (Frost), the landlady Marsha, the artist that lives in the same building Brian and Daisy's best friend Twist.

The dvd is the complete series which consists of 2 full seasons of the show (7 episodes each).  Lots of scifi spoofs such as Star Wars and The Matrix are thrown in there and there's one recurring character that shows up twice, Tyres, who is classic!  If you want to see a little sample of Spaced, check out the gunfight scene!

I've been watching the new tv show Flashpoint, which covers the exploits of the Strategic Response Unit in Toronto.  I've watched the first three episodes, and here is my eight word nutshell review:

Love it, love it, love it, LOVE IT!

The SRU springing into action

Flashpoint is soooooo good; at first I wanted to watch it just for the fact that the show is about Toronto, but the stories are amazing - the tactics, equipment, and action of the SRU is seriously cool, but the way they weave in the emotional impact of a single lost life is outstanding; they pack a serious emotional punch at the end of each show.  It's a Canadian show, but CBS has picked it up and it's also on the air in the US.

If you haven't seen it yet, you can watch previous episodes online (in HD!) at www.cbs.com/primetime/flashpoint

Flashpoint gets bonus points for having Mark Taylor on the cast.  He played Romeo on an old kid's show Student Bodies, which happened to be one of my favourite shows as kid...
