Remember me
This past Saturday, Jay, Al, George, Susanna, and I headed north to Lakeridge Ski resort for some snow tubing action.  It was awesome.

Tooooobiiiiiiiinng!
You go wickedly fast down the run (it's advertised as a 25-storey drop) and you can link up to 6 tubes together for even more combined horsepower, er, I mean weight.  They'll even let you go down in a chain formation!!!  Too bad we didn't find out until it was too late...

It was $15 for 6 runs, which is a bit on the pricey side, but it was a lot of fun and worth it if you've never been.

I shot a couple of videos during a couple of our group runs:
  • First group run: Al's getting blasted by major snow, wind, and ice and Jay's pulled his toque as far down as possible to make sure it stays on his head
  • Second group run: we were spinning on this run and got even closer to the end of the track than the first video.  You can see Susanna's hair flying around crazily with the spinning and the speed.

Forget the skis, forget the snowboards - go tubing!
  • Josh Smith.  Wow wow wow wow wow wow wow.  Wow.

    Windmill alleyoop
    over KMart?  Sick.
I actually jumped out of my seat when Smith flew over Kenyon Martin, grabbed the alleyoop, and windmilled it down.  And when Josh pulled on 'Nique's jersey?  Flashback to Dee Brown pumping up his shoes before his Blind Man Dunk - pure showmanship, baby.  Fans going nuts, I'm going nuts, and then the "Homage to Dominique": take off from outside the lane, lean in, and windmill it home with some serious power.  Two dunks for the ages.

    Human Highlight Film Jr.
J.R. Smith's first couple attempts with his behind the back dunk made it look like a silly dunk, but when he actually flushed it it was a real solid jam.  Had he hit that on his first try, I'm thinking it's a 48.

Amare's dunks were nothing special - he got into the final round only because of Steve Nash's creativity on the header.  The final round shoulda been Josh vs. J.R. and I bet we would have seen some spectacular stuff from J.R.

Anderson's first dunk - a free throw dunk with a catch off the bounce - woulda been absolutely spectacular had he hit on his first, second, hell, even third try.  But 8 attempts??  And what's with his 2nd dunk?  He simply copied J.R.'s 2nd dunk.  Terrible.  He's used up his slam dunk contest visa.

Two dunks I wanna see in a future slam dunk contest:
    - Two foot takeoff from the free throw line (Desmond Mason, step right up)
    - One foot takeoff Statue of Liberty 360 (not sure who can do this; perhaps Josh Smith?)

The three point shootout was a dud - not one person scored 20 points?!?  Where was Peja?  And they shoulda added Damon Jones just so we can listen to Sir Charles, Kenny the Jet, and Magic trash on Shaq's $50,000 bet.
Just finished back to back nights of basketball and I'm seriously hurting today.  Muscles sore, joints achin', and I feel completely fatigued even though I had 8 hours of sleep last night.  It was a struggle to get out of bed this morning and I'm moving extremely slowly...

Man, in the good old days, I could play basketball every single day, sleep for 6 hours each night, and be good to go the next day.

    Getting old sucks.
Another year, another January ski trip to Tremblant.

This year we opted to go a week later than usual, and boy, what a difference a week makes.  Last year, it was so cold that my camera stopped working on the slopes!  This year it was so warm that we had our gloves off whenever we were stopped on the slopes.

The snow conditions weren't the greatest as a result of the warm weather, but it was still decent skiing, and as always, it was a lot of fun...
