Sara and I headed up to Lake Tahoe for the July 4th long weekend.

The drive was only supposed to be 5 hours, but all of the long weekend tourists killed the drive up there.  We ended up stopping half way at an outlet mall just to break up the boredom of crawling along the highway at 40mph.  (this is where I found the Adidas 1 that Jeff eventually bought).

We went to Stateline, which is a very small resort town in South Lake Tahoe.  As its name suggests, this town sits right on the stateline between California and Nevada, and so there are a couple Vegas-style casinos there.  We rode the gondola up to the top of the mountain where the ski runs are, and there was a nice observation deck near the top which afforded great views of Lake Tahoe itself.  The elevation took its toll on us; we were huffing and puffing 5 minutes into our hike on the mountain.

We also went on a breakfast cruise.  The lake is sooo clear and amazingly blue, and the weather was perfect for a cruise - not too hot to be under the sun, but not so cold that we had to huddle inside.

All in all it was a fun weekend.  It'll be interesting to see what it's like during ski season.
