This is just too cool - check out what this researcher's been able to do with the Wiimote.

The site actually has a ton of great lectures, check it out: www.ted.com

Thanks for the link, Vedran!

Goofing around in
the hotel room
Jim's company sent him to Vegas for some Java (geeky) conference, so Cameron & I took the opportunity and met up with him and made a weekend of it. To make our travel easier, Jim took the entire family's luggage along with Cameron's stroller. He got some strange looks from people when they realized he was pushing an empty stroller :)

We enjoyed a nice weekend touring the various casinos. Very reminiscent of my bachelorette party, ah the good ol' pre-baby days! My favourite was drinking giant slurpees from 7Eleven - it's never warm enough to want it in San Francisco.
Weighed myself on Monday, and considering I spent pretty much all of last week in Vegas attending a conference and doing exactly zero physical activity, the results are exactly what I expected:
  • Initial weight: 188lbs
  • Last week's weight: 187lbs
  • This week's weight: 188lbs
  • I've already run twice this week, and with another planned run and basketball on Saturday, hopefully I'll see some morale-boosting progress at the end of this week.

Speaking of the Vegas conference, it was a technical conference for Java programmers.  I saw some seriously cool stuff, and the conference got me all geeked up over coding and technology - I actually wanted to rush back to my hotel room and code... then as I rushed back to my room I realized that I'M IN VEGAS and sitting in my room coding all night is just not cool.  So I went out to dinner with fellow conference attendees instead  ...and talked about coding.

Whenever I can't get a stupid song out of my head, my remedy is to completely kill it by listening to it non-stop.  Current song that is in heavy rotation in my head is "Before He Cheats" by Carrie Underwood.

In searching for the song to play over and over on Youtube, I came across a comedian's response to the song.  He adds a new verse to the song where the guy comes out of the bar and sees his truck all smashed up... it's completely hilarious and utterly brilliant.  Warning: there's a lot of swearing and adult content in the clip so kids, don't follow this link.

Enjoying a day in the park
Last Sunday we spent an awesome day having a picnic at Golden Gate Park with Brian, Sooji, Haiden, Lloyd, Wei-Yee, and Jinna.  We had great food and a ton of fun playing with the babies.

Take a look at our pictures, where Sara's artistic side came out in the picture captions.  :)

Also take a look at Brian's blog for more great pics.

After having looked at the pictures, I came away with one big realization:  I am soooooooo bald.  :(  Midlife crisis, here I come!!
