Cam's starting to talk a lot now, in his own language.  It's gobbledegook of course, but sometimes I can figure out what he's saying.  For example, when he sees something new or he'll point to something and say "whas sis daht?" or sometimes just a simple "sis daht?"  This is a pretty good approximation of "what is that", though I think it's more of a coincidence that it sounds like "what is that" - I don't really think he's actually saying "what is that"... then again maybe he hears this from the bigger kids at daycare and has picked it up.

He often says "dah'sum".  I haven't noticed a pattern to when he says it so I can't quite figure out what he's trying to say, but he says it often so it's got to mean something to him.  He doesn't get frustrated that we don't respond to it, so it looks like he's not saying anything specific to us.

One of the books we read to him has pictures of the moon and I say "look at the mooooon" and he always points at it on each page.  The other night, before I said anything, he pointed to the picture and said "muuuuuuh".

He very cutely says "woooooaaaahhhh" when he sees or does something interesting, like finding my iPod on the floor in the morning.  He also says "mmmMMMMmmmm" when he eats something yummy.

Every morning we pile into the car and the first stop is to drop me off near the Bart train station.  As we get a few feet away from the drop point, Cam starts to wave bye bye before we stop, before I even turn to look back at him - he already knows 'this is where Daddy leaves'.

During the cruise, he climbed up the bunk bed ladder all by himself!  It was pretty cool to watch him scale the ladder - the gaps are pretty big for the little guy and so he had to reeeeaaaaach up high with his legs to get to the next rung.  I was of course super nervous and ready to catch him, but he was very sure footed and never slipped.

He walks up stairs quite confidently and we don't have much fear when he's heading up the stairs in our condo, but he's a little shaky coming down stairs: he slows down and makes very deliberate movements to walk downwards.  Occasionally he'll turn around and climb backwards down the steps.

When something unexpected happens, such as me turning off the tv while he's watching, or a video he's watching on my iPod stops, he'll look at me with a quizzical look and hold his hands out with palms up as if to say "What gives??  Why did that stop??"

Cam's starting to mimic us now.  The other night I tried to entertain him while changing his diaper by clucking at him.  He watched me intently for a few seconds, then started to cluck back at me.  Additionally, uncle Kevin made monkey faces to Cam during dinner on the cruise, and Cam followed suit.  Now we can make monkey "oo oo ee ee" sounds and Cam'll make the monkey face.  :)

When Cam sees us brushing our teeth he wants his toothbrush.  He doesn't actually brush his teeth, though - he just sticks the toothbrush into his mouth and chews on the bristles.  I'm hoping this is just the first phase of his mimicking our brushing of teeth, and that he'll start to actually brush his teeth soon.  Right now we still have to actually brush his teeth and he hates it - he'll struggle against us and violently shake his head so we can't get the toothbrush to his mouth.

Cam's imagination is starting to take flight; he'll grab a toy car and make various motor sounds with it while driving it around.  He also takes one of his shoes and makes funny sounds as he plays with it in odd places like on the stereo or on the vacuum.

And finally, he loves to play catch.  When he sees his soft football, he'll run over to grab it and throw it overhand.  I'm very impressed by his coordination as he throws it with pretty good aim and velocity right at us.  He's not very good at catching, though - when I motion to throw it back at him, he'll bounce up and down excitedly but doesn't actually try to catch it and the ball just bounces off his chest...  I am already envisoning many afternoons spent at the park playing catch and on the playground playing basketball.  :)
