Smile for the camera, little guy
We had our ultrasound test today to determine the gender of the new baby, and as predicted by the ever-reliable Chinese Gender Calendar, it's a boy.  Sorry mom!

It was quite anti-climactic when we found out, and though I was very excited to see the new little guy moving during the ultrasound, it was not the life-altering moment the way the first baby was.  There's definitely less attention/fanfare the second time around.

The ultrasound tech was much better this time round, explaining to us what exactly we were looking at.  The baby was actually doing a lot of mouth movements and it turns out it was swallowing amniotic fluid, which led to us seeing his stomach very clearly in the ultrasounds.  Pretty amazing.  We also very clearly saw his little feet and toes, very cute even though they're probably not yet fully developed.

Sara thinks the baby looks a lot like me, way more than Cam did.  I really can't tell - based on a skeletal/ghostly scan, how can one see a resemblance?  Take a look at the photos.

Cam fell out of bed last night, this is probably his fifth time falling out of our bed.  He had a bleeding nose this time, which is terrible but is nowhere as bad as last time when he completely busted his lip open.  He looked like Frankenstein for a few days.  I was too concerned to take a photo at the time, but now I wish I had - it looked really, really bad.  Anyways, Cam cried it out for maybe 15 seconds before falling back asleep.  Tough kid, that one.

We went shopping for bed rails today, but in the end I decided that he'll be transitioning to his own bed soon and it'll be much lower so if he does fall out he won't cause any damage.  For now, I've surrounded the bed with our dining room chairs.  I know, I know, that's pretty lame.  But this is just temporary, and better than letting him fall out of bed a sixth time.

Cam is starting to say "nice!" now.  We are in the midst of packing for our Mexico trip, and he'll climb up onto the luggage, look at us with a big grin, and say "nice!"  We were also at a Babies'R'Us and I let him sit on a toddler couch and he patted the arm and said "nice!".  It's very cute.  We can't get him to say it on demand yet, so it's a big treat when he says it.  I'll try to catch a video of it.

Speaking of videos, I'll be posting one shortly.  Cam has turned into an awesome/crazy dancer and I've put together a little video, will be posting it later.

And speaking of Mexico, we've canceled our trip next week due to the Swine flu outbreak.  I'm pretty bummed out, I was looking forward to the trip with Jeff/Sonja/Sophie and Brian/Sooji/Haiden/Jordan.  It woulda been a ton of fun, not to mention relaxing.  If it was just the adults going I woud have proceeded, but I don't want to put the kids at risk unnecessarily.  Oh well, hopefully we'll all be able to head to a tropical destination some time...
