2009. 6 months have passed. What have I accomplished?...not much. Obviously I haven't been posting a thing since I've been swamped with work and I'm even surprised I'm taking the time to post this now! So what have I been up to? Work, work, work. The film biz can be crazy at times and this sucker I'm on now is a killer! I've had no time to do anything outside of work other than work and go home and sleep. I barely see the friends either. All I have left to say is, "September here I come!" That'll be the end of this project.
Let's discuss movies since my little section, ACME, is about that. In 6 months, I only got to see 2 movies in theatres. First, that's totally unheard of with me. I must say though the 2 movies I saw were excellent films. The first one I saw was Adventureland. It was a shame it didn't do so well but it was mostly because the film was advertised incorrectly. They made it seem like it was going to be another Superbad (since it's directed by the same director) but instead it was a brilliant 80's summer break flick with an awesome cast and killer soundtrack. "Rock Me Amadeus!" I rank Adventureland up there with comedies like Fast Times At Ridgemont High and Dazed & Confused. 9/10.
The last film I watched this year was Star Trek. Everyone watched this movie. I'd be surprised if someone didn't. All I have to say is J.J. Abrams rocks! I know some purists that didn't enjoy the film but the whole point of this film was to recreate a new vision and I think it totally worked. The action was awesome, the drama & comedic points were spot on and I have to say the cast was great too. A very special shout out to Karl Urban who rocked as Bones! I give this film an 8.5/10.
That's it. That's all I saw in theatres. As for the current and upcoming summer flicks, I have to say I'm kind of glad I avoided Terminator Salvation since all I hear from coworkers is that it's the worst film ever. Then Transformers 2 comes out and all I hear from my coworkers is that it's worse than Terminator Salvation. Not exactly a good sign for these summer blockbusters yet they keep making money. The one I really want to see is Drag Me To Hell but I'll most likely not get the chance. So that's all I have to say for now. Hopefully you'll hear from me soon next time...or not.
